MC ECE Child Care Workforce Industry Advisory Committee,

Wanted to provide an update about the August 22 Early Childhood Professional Third Annual Statewide Summer Symposium which will be held at the Rockville Campus:

Confirmed Speakers:
Jennifer Nizer, Director, MSDE Office of Child Care

Steven Hicks, MSDE Assistant Superintendent Division of Early Childhood

Dr. Valora Washington, CEO Council for Professional Recognition
*Dr. Washington is known as one of the “pioneers of ECE”, has written many books, and has expanded the CDA internationally.

Food:
Pizza, drinks, cookies, and fruit for attendees.

Registration:
Will open on Wednesday, June 12
*MC is working on a streamlined process as they do for the Theatre Events which will make it easier to get people in and out.  This is why we have held off on registration in addition to concerns of filling to capacity within just a few days.

Location:
Rockville Campus, Theatre Art Building from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m.
August 22, 2019
Parking:
Open parking, no fee and location is metro/bus accessible
*My Dean is trying to see if we can move to the Parilla Performing Art Center which can accommodate 500 people (TAA can only hold 400 including volunteers).   One issue is all food and drinks must stay in the Lobby, but seats are more comfortable!

We will need to have a meeting to collaborate and distribute all the work (this is in partnership with all organizations–see flyer).

*I have added several to this email list including several higher ed. colleagues, NAEYC, MSDE Credentialing, Military Child Development Centers, and MCPS High School Child Development so that they are aware of this event and since we’d like to be inclusive of everyone that would like to participate.

Please remember, our work is also beginning for the Third Annual Regional Early Childhood Summit which will be held at the beginning of 2020 at the Rockville Campus (we’ve been told we have outgrown Takoma Park)!

Abajo encontrarán un mensaje de la Profesora Sonia Pruneda-Hernández acerca de una oportunidad de beca para CDA (sin créditos). Pueden ver la liga de abajo para mayor información, o pueden contactar a la Profesora Nélida Andrés.
